Going On!

2 Samuel 5:10
And David went on, and grew great, and the Lord God of hosts was with him

In a day where many are packing it in, because it gets hard. Pastor's are quiting and leaving the ministry. Missionaries are not staying on the field. We cannot even replace them one for one as the veterans retire, we must look to the Lord to help us.

David inherits a tough job. He is in a battle with enemies and with his own subjects. He has taken many losses. His ground leaders make some big mistakes that are hard to overcome.

David gives us an example that we should heed!

1. David went on!
No matter the circumstances we must determine to finish the course we have been set on. We should see that the obstacles that are in front of us are God's opportunities to strengthen us and show the Lord's hand to be stronger than what is happening to us at that moment.

Don't quit.... Go on!

2. David grew great!
Adversity is no excuse to stop growing in the things of the Lord! The circumstances of life and the details that take up so much of our time is no reason to stunt our continued growth. It is never too late to grow. With an attitude that we will learn of God, we will grow greater and greater.

Don't quit... Grow great!

3. David was blessed, "The Lord God of hosts was with him".
When we make the decision to Go on, and Grow great, the Lord God of hosts will be with us. When we need it most we get a force multiplier. God has always promised that he would never leave us. He has promised to give us all that we need to succeed. He promised to pave the way he has chosen for us.

May God grant us the ability to never quit, always grow. May we see the Lord God of hosts with us!
