Philippians 2: 2
Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
Do you ever think that you are the only one who cares? Do you think that you may be the only one who tries to do right? Have you ever thought about packing it in and just quit?
Has your desire to do what the Lord has called you to do, ever got in the way of enjoying the outcome and results of serving God? Has your circumstances allowed you an excuse to quit.
The Apostle Paul had an opportunity to just that. He was in prison, things did not look to good. His supporters were dropping support in droves. People were turning against him, his ministry could be affected by a protracted absence. Paul could have quit, but he did not. Instead, Paul writes a letter to alleviate these things, he asks Christians to do a few things to encourage him. I believe that God intended for us to read this as a letter to us his children. God would like for us to do these things so we can encourage others!
1. Fulfil ye my joy
The one thing I see in this statement is that Paul never lost the excitement of hearing about Christians doing what they should be doing. A old time preacher always told us: "When you are at the end of your rope, tie a knot in it and hang on" When things get hard, we should focus on fulfilling the joy of the Lord in all we do.
2. That ye be likeminded,
Good advise! taking on the mind of Christ will see us through any difficulty we could ever face. When I find my self having a pity party, sooner or later I realize that I lost the mind of Christ! I am always encouraged when I stand with someone that has the same mind set as I do. So when I am likeminded with Christ, I get the blessings too.
3. Having the same love,
"For God so loved the world" what do you love? Do you have the same love for the world? Do you see the great need of people walking around you, they need the gospel! they need a chance to hear the Word of God! They need salvation. Want to quit? Invest your self in spreading the gospel to the Lost.
4. Being of one accord.
The old joke; What do you have when you get 5 Baptists in one room? 6 opinions! It is hard to get Christians to agree about everything, but we can all agree to be in accord when it comes to getting the salvation message to a lost world.
5. Of one mind.
There is only one mind to have! That is the mind of Christ! How Many Minds Do You Have?
