Psalm 13:1
How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
Have you ever had a pity party? Come on now, you can admit it. O.K. I go first, I am the king of pity parties, I wish I could figure out how to make money off them! But the government would tax it, I would get behind in my quarterly taxes, they would come after me and put me in the poky! *** See! I told you I am the king of pity parties!
How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord?
Pity party #1! The writer is in prayer, he is upset and has his eyes on his pitiful situation. I am fully aware that the situations of life are real, and take a lot of effort to clear the hurdles in front of us. Because of our fleshly side we do find our self praying in similar fashion. When things do not go our way we feel like we are abandoned. Yet we KNOW Word of God tells us over and over that God will never leave us nor forsake us.
For ever?
What an asinine conclusion! We need to see the things of God in light of eternity! A couple of hours of perceived loneliness compared to eternity in the presence of God, no comparison. Yet the enemy turns seconds into hours and hours into days, and days into for ever, in our minds. Again a good dose of the Word of God to wash away the implanted thoughts of our enemies will straighten out our day!
How long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
The problem may have two obvious answers to this statement. Number 1: If there is sin in a Christians life then the fellowship is broken, and it may be that we feel the realization that the Lord hides his face. But 1 John 1:9 is still in the book. Seek immediate forgiveness, and get more than we bargained for. (Read it). Answer #2. We never had a personal relationship with the Lord. We expect Him to answer us! There is no reason found in the Bible for God to answer any prayer from a sinner except for the prayer of faith in His salvation.
Funny! This verse is just wrong on a theological level, but is so right in my own life! May God help me when I feel this way! May He show Himself faithful!
