But, I 'm In A Hurry To Get There Fast!

Psalm 40:1
1I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.

Three great thoughts this morning. One is a lost art, and two are encourager's to my soul. We should dive in and see what the Psalmist is saying,

I waited patiently for the Lord;

I guess if you had to pick a song to describe my daily life it would be an old country song; "I'm in a hurry to get there fast". I do not know why we do it by at least in my world I schedule way to many things in a day! I am running at one hundred miles per hour or I am at a dead stand still (but not for long),

Recently the Lord has been teaching me a lot about waiting. Waiting helps so many things. like our anger is diffused by waiting for a period of time. Waiting helps us discover what is in our heart, by helping the Holy Spirit speak to us. waiting allows whatever thoughts we may have to work out details that lead us to make right choices.

I have been convicted in my heart about waiting for the Lord to properly move and reveal His will for my life. Waiting allows for the Lord to pave the way for all the blessings He desires to give us and the blessings he wants us to be.

Waiting is a good thing! So, waiting patiently is the right attitude to have as the blessings pour into our lives. I am asking the Lord to help me learn this lost art of waiting patiently, Are you?

And he inclined unto me,

What a promise. God desires to incline unto me! I know that God shows no preferences to any particular man. God has set up a set of laws that He follows. If we learn to do what is expected of us we are assured in the Word of God, that He will reward us openly. As I wait patiently for the Lord to do His work in my heart, He sends His blessings and attention toward us.

And heard my cry.

If you have ever tried to pray while knowing you are out of the will of God, you know that it feels like those prayers never make it above the ceiling. If we are in a right relationship with God, waiting patiently for God to move, we can be assured He has inclined unto me, and know He hears our cry, what a blessed thought!

Are you in a hurry to get there fast? I pray that we slow down and wait on the Lord to incline unto us while hearing our cry!

  1. Does this mean that the healing I am praying for has not occured because my relationship with God is weak? There is much truth in that. So as I strive to draw nigh to God and continue my prayer for healing, then He will acknowledge that which I have requested. My healing will come in God's time, not mine (I guess).
    "Not my will but Thine be done."
