Clap And Shout!

Psalm 47:1
1O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

All you need to do is tune your television to any one of the hundreds of twenty-four hour sports channels, and it won't be long before you see an exuberant display of enthusiasm. Clapping your hands, shouting and the like is common, but the average church service feels like a funeral parlor.

As a (vocal) Christian, I get a lot os stares as I chime in, when the preacher hits a part of the sermon that thrills my soul. I imagine the Psalmist thinking about the things of God, he gets excited. This excitement can't be contained as he breaks into a "glory fit"!

O clap your hands, all ye people;

When you start to think about all the things that God has done in your life, it must move you to an excited state. I like to compare where I am at to where I might have ended up if I did not have the Lord in my life.

The detour the Lord has led me on has been a very interesting one. God has allowed me so many opportunities to serve Him in so many diverse ways. He has allowed me to fail and has given me chance after chance to re-do until I get it right. He has developed me into a better man than I could have ever been on my own. I have felt and experienced the thrill of victory.

I wish this blog was interactive, we would all stand and give the Lord Jesus Christ a round of extended applause! How long has it been since you clapped your hands in appreciation and praise to the Lord?

Shout unto God with the voice of triumph.

We use our voice in a number of ways, we whisper sweet words into the ear of our spouse, we speak clearly if we want to be understood, and I have heard you yell at me when I cut in you lane while driving to church! Again when you tune into any sporting event, you will need to turn down the volume because of all the shouting that the winning team receives.

We are always on the winning side, The Lord Jesus Christ has fought and won the battles for our soul. He has given freely the salvation from a doomed eternity. He has secured our place with Him in heaven.

My prayer is that we would get so tickled in our (spiritual) gizzard, that a Holy gurgle, would build within our heart, building and bubbling up our torso, into our mouths that a tremendous shout would spew out in glory and praise to the Lord for all He has done in our life

Are you Clapping? Are you shouting?
