Psalm 55:1
Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication.
Have you ever felt like you just needed to escape from it all? Has the problems of our mundane life ever swallowed you up to the point you felt squeezed to the point of bursting? why is it when you are down in the dumps, it seems like every conceivable problem piles on to add to the weight that your shoulders are trying to hold up. If you read all of this Psalm it will not be long before you feel the pain the writer is going through. I get excited to find comfort in the Word of God for every problem I could go through or even think of.
Give ear to my prayer, O God;
Right from the very first word of this prayer, the reader is swept up in the urgency and desperation of the heart. I minister among the soldiers at Fort Benning, Georgia, the number one thing you realize is that these soldiers only want someone to listen to them, their point of view, or opinion. The Drill Sergeants will not listen, even the chow hall workers could care less. Even after seven years of listening, most of the things they are worried about are minor in the totality of their life.
God gave us our voice, our ears, and our hearts, as a human we must communicate! We all desire a hearing, and an understanding heart to plead our cause to. The child of God, always has access to the ear of God! We can step out of our situations and into the very presence of the God of the universe, who is ready and willing to hear every prayer we may have. I do not know how a person that does not have a personal relationship with God makes it. No one to hear, no one to care, no one to help! If you find yourself in this position, you can make an immediate change, the good news is there is one prayer that God is obligated to hear! If you would ask Him to forgive your sins, take up residence in you inner heart, and be the Lord of your life! Then, you can have access to the ear of God.
and hide not thyself from my supplication.
For the child of God, there may be time where we feel like God is hiding from us. He is not! I believe that when we feel this way, we should stop and do a check up of our life, confess all known sin that is in our life, and ask God to reveal any thing that henders our prayers from being answered. what a blessing it is to be in the family of God, we benifit so greatly in it.
