Have Mercy!

Psalm 51:1
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

This is my "Go To" Psalm, When I have wallowed in sin for far to long, when the dirtiness of that sinful acts have stained and scared my soul, I turn to this great plea for forgiveness! I am so thankful that the Lord saw fit to give us examples from everyday life and everyday people, how to return and restore a right relationship with Him!

Have mercy upon me, O God,
Mercy is such a sweet word. None of us deserves one ounce of mercy! Mercy is an act of kindness bestowed upon us when we least expect it nor least deserve it. God's mercy is extended to us without our asking for it.

According to thy lovingkindness:
The Psalmist understands the immediate benefits of the mercy that God gives time and time again! One of the greatest benefits of being a Christian is we have a experiential working knowledge of the sweet blessings that is showered upon us daily. I trust the blessed Word of God, It is my written warranty and I want all that is promised to me, which includes the lovingkindness according to the Word of God!

As humans we all can give our mercy away to someone, It will be a little flawed and more than likely will not last long. The mercy that God gives us is perfect and eternal! It is by far more important for us to possess God's mercy in our life than to have other people's pity. I totally relate to this intense plea from the Psalmist "Have mercy upon me, O God!"

According unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Because we all live in and participate with this sinful world, we quickly adopt the practice of those who surround us. We all have the sinful nature that is a cancer eating away at our spiritual life. We are flat out sinners in the sight of God. We are in great need daily to seek the "Multitude of tender mercies" that God can give us instead of the punishment we deserve.

Because of the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus Christ upon the cross, where He shed his blood for our sins to be "Blotted out" we can echo the word that, in fact the mercy we receive is tender and is given in multitude to us!

What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus! What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus! O' precious is the flow that makes me white as snow, no other fount I know, NOTHING BUT THE BLOOD OF JESUS!
