1 Samuel 18: 14
And David behaved himself wisley in all his ways; and the Lord was with him.
If you look back a few verses you will see some background information that is crucial to forming an opinion about the rewards of "BEHAVING WISLEY"...
Verses 6-7 Sets the stage for us! David is returning from the great victory over Goliath! Jonathan (Saul's son) has became great friends.... King Saul and David along with the men of war were returning and the women come out to welcome the hero's home. A celebration breaks out with singing, dancing, and musical instruments. The atmosphere was one of great joy!
A song / chant breaks out from the women in the crowd screaming "Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands."
Of course this is going to rub raw the hide of Saul! Verse 8 states he is "Very Wroth" this saying displeased Saul! He is livid! Saul states that he believes all that he has left is the kingdom and he thinks David wants that too!
Verse 9 Saul sets out to keep a close eye on David... David is now under the critical eye of the king. Every move David makes is studied.
Verse 10 shows us the consequences of what happens to us when do not do it Gods way! (we know Saul's ending!)
The remainder of this verse shows us that David "Behaved Wisley" He was in the court of Saul playing music to tame the savage (Saul) beast! Notice tucked into the middle of Verse 10 scripture states "David Played... as at other times" Obedience is a wonder trait to have!
Verse 11 shows again the vile attitude of Saul as he throws a javelin at David because of his (Saul's) inward rage toward David. He even shouted out that He would pin David to the wall!
Notice Saul did this not once but in fact he did it twice, David avoided it both times.
Verse 12 "Behaving Wisley" is rewarded from God. Saul was afraid of David because the Lord was with him! and King Saul is left alone physically and spiritually!
Verse 13 Because David was faithful to "Behave Wisley" he is once again promoted. Moved out of the Kings court to become a commander over a thousand troops!. This promotion was viewed by the people to be a good thing.
Behave Wisley Today!
