Pass In Review #2

2 Samuel 7:9
And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

David is observing a "Pass in review" parade of facts. God has taken David to the reviewing stand and is now visually showing David just how far God has taken him since he anointed him.

This verse gives David three things to think about. We would do good to see these three things in our own life and give God the glory and praise He deserves!

1. I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest!
Every time we open the holy scriptures we will not be there long before we find the promise that God is with us in every aspect of our life. We will get the idea that He will never leave us nor forsake us. It is true that God is leading us hand in hand, step by step, moment by moment! He is with us no matter where we are God is there!

2. (I) have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight,
When we think we have it hard and nobody cares, when we feel like the entire force of our enemies are against us, God has given us his word that "All" our enemies have been cut off out of our sight. Sometimes I think we blame our enemies for our failures, when in fact we are the reason for our troubles, because we mess up God's plan by taking credit and control of the situations of our battles. God is our shield! He goes before us shielding us from the sight of the enemies we face. What a great promise to a warrior, Our enemies are cut out of our sight. May we only see Jesus!

3. (I) have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.
Deep down inside of all men we wonder how will we be remembered. What will be our legacy? How will history record our contributions?

David is promised a "great name"! What more could we ask for? This promise is such an encouragement that when we live they way the "Master" directs us to live, He will make us a great name. The older I get the more important it is to me to leave a good testimony behind for my children, grandchildren, and those who come behind them. I do hope that God will show my story to my future generations to come, that "Pe-Paw" was a great man because God was with him!

We are great because God is with us. When God is not with us, we are men most miserable!
