Walk Worthy!

Colossians 1:10
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every goof work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

This verse arrested my thoughts this morning. I asked myself "am I walking worthy of the Lord?" To be honest I believe that everyone of us would have to answer this question negatively, Only because of God's grace we even can walk anywhere close to Him.

I have always been the kind of guy that does not enjoy leisurely walks, tip toeing through the tulips, or grass, or asphalt. I would rather be in a fast car because "I am in a hurry to get there fast".

This verse reminds me that God intends for me to slow down and enjoy my walk with him. Lets see what needs to happen in our daily walk!

Ye might walk worthy.
The implication is, if we are going to walk beside our Savour we should at least try to prepare ourselves for the occasion. If we received an invitation from a dignitary, we would dress in the best outfit we could afford, we would groom our self to a high polished state, we would study guides on proper manners. On purpose we would do our best to be our best, to be worthy of the invitation.

The Lord Jesus Christ sends us a continual invitation to walk with him. Should we not commit to be our best in his presence.

Unto all pleasing.
Our effort should be focused. We need to strive to advance in these walks to a acheivable level. The Apostle calls it "all pleasing" the longer we walk with God, the easier it becomes to please him in everything. We walk in His word, discovering how and what He expects from us. We find that He provides everything to us so we can be pleasing in all things.

We should walk worthy unto all pleasing! Are we at least trying to please Him?

Being fruitful in every good work.
Most people think God is a big bully up in His heaven waiting to rub us out at the first sign of disobedience. This picture is completely false, God is our biggest cheer-leader. When we walk with Him he prepares us to be fruitful in every good work.

It excites me to know God will make me "fruitful" in every good work
A-MEN!

Increasing in the knowledge of God.
The best promise about our walk with God, is He imparts the blessed knowledge of Himself, to us. Walking with God, in close relationship, talking and learning about Him daily will naturally increase our intimate knowledge of Him.

In just a few days from now I will have been married to my lovely wife for 31 years. Looking back on those years I see the times we walked close are the times we learn more and more about each other. We are closer to each other now than we were in the beginning of our marriage. The same should be true of our walk with God. We should be closer to Him today than we were yesterday! We should be more intimate now than we were years ago?

I pray that we would all see the great blessings we get if we would just walk with God everyday!
