Can God Bless America, Again?

Deuteronomy 8: 19-20
And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall perish.

As the nations which the Lord destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the Lord your God.

I had plans to continue in this blog where I had left off yesterday. God directed my eyes and my mind, then my heart on the two verses above. God allowed me to as myself the following question:

Can God Bless America, Again?

God has blessed America in a unprecedented way! Our history is chocked full of evidence that America has held "Favorable Nation" status in the world! Up until recent times, America has been the strongest nation on the face of the earth. But a fundamental shift has been lurking under the surface and is now exposing the truth, that today's verses proclaim.

To The Individual:

"And it shall be... "

God is done warning us! He has instructed us that when we cross a certain line which He has drawn in the sand, we can look forward to swift and decisive punishment.

"If thou do at all forget the Lord thy God."

My first response was, "There is no way for me to forget the Lord my God!" Then I examined my own life and see a very disturbing trait. I do good remembering and obeying God for periods of time, then I see that because of the flesh, I struggle and get my mind on things that are present in my own circumstances I drop the ball and fall into old habits and rely less upon God and more upon my own strength.

"And walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them,"

In our life we do a lot of walking. Since my earliest years I have often played the kids game of follow the leader. Many children's games enforce the concept of following and or mimicking the one out in front of us. It is easy to be walking along following God and the next moment we discover we have been duped by a slick enemy, following him instead of the Lord our God. We battle the sinful instinct to naturally rebel against God, to follow our own way that is actually the way of other gods.

"I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish."

This is a judgment I believe God is serious about! The words are stiff and the implications are directed to everyone, Christian and the Lost. For the Christian that time after time turns away from the True and living God to follow after other gods, The Divine judgment is that we perish (prematurely) I believe that it is because of this very proclamation has been carried out in front of my face, many Christian are removed early because they have not obeyed God in detail. For the Lost, Eternal death is assured because they never trusted Christ as savior.

To The Nation:

"As the nations which the Lord destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish;"

When you study the fate of nations that God destroyed because of their sin, a gruesome painted picture is seen. This is one judgment, I want no part of! I am wondering out loud, Could our nation be facing this very judgment? America as a whole has been rapidly turning from the blessings of God. America has been falling away from the title of "Christian Nation" to one that is reflective of the judged nations. If America continues down the road it has chosen certain destruction is around the corner!

"Because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the Lord your God."

I can not change America as a whole, I have no control over everyone actions! I do have one bit I can do. I can have control how I obey God! I can then go on to spread the Gospel message, introducing Americans to the Lord Jesus Christ as savior! I can influence Christians that i am in contact with to move away from "religion" to a RELATIONSHIP with Him!

I asked the question; "Can God Bless America, Again?" I have the answer, it is Yes! The blessing is totally dependent upon MY obedience!
