Forget about it

Isaiah 65: 17!
For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

I guess I am blessed I have a very short memory..... Now what was I saying??????? Oh yea, I am forgetful! Are you? There are many, many things I would like to forget! I am amazed at what the enemy will flash before my memory and his timing is always at the wrong time!

I have a lot of skeletons in my closet. I have to the best of my ability confessed any sin that is associated with them, but my memory works overtime, dwelling on them from time to time. There are places I have been that I would like to forget about. These places represent times that were not so pleasant or frankly I was not living in right relationship with God.

There are words that I would like to forget, ones that I have said, ones that I have thought. Words that hurt, and cause damage, words that should have been spoken, and words that should have stayed in my mouth.

The blessed verse this morning promises us a great day coming! Let us look at what this promise means to us.

For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth.

I have heard so many times that our world is going to hell in a hand basket. I believe that this statement is true in more than one way. Physically and spiritually, politically and socially, it is rotten. The proponents of global warming paint a doomed end to the "Big blue ball" they are somewhat right, God will use global warming to burn the filth of sin away from it!

Christians should look at this promise with great joy! God has promised to create new heavens and a new earth. If you just simply look at scripture you should find that these new heavens and the new earth will be perfect in every way. I wish I could imagine the impact of what it will be like.

And the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.

I have heard from the "Old Timers" that back in their day it was so great. The memory is a wonderful devise that chooses to remember only what it wants. Bad things as well as good things. Our memory embellishes and flat out lies to us. I get a kick out of hearing my own children talk about their early years, I wonder if they were even in the same places I was!

God will wipe clean the old or former memories of this hard earth. We will receive a new prospective, one that is able to process the wonderful newness of the place that God creates for us. Nothing of our former days will be remembered.

We will never be plagued with a passing thought of the sinful ways of man. No quick flash on mind that causes us to look back.

I am thankful that God assures me that a day will come where it will be better than O.K. to lose my mind!

What hope this verse gives to me! You think I am bad now about remembering.... wait till then, I will be blissfully ignorant of the old way of life... Praise the Lord!

Have you forgot about it? You will!
