Sing For Joy!

Isaiah 65:14
Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit.

I like to sing! I am not good, but I like to sing. At the Bible Studies I hold the idea that louder is better, better because you can't hear me.

This passage of scripture, has a double picture. This double picture is repeated time and time again. This picture shows the two worlds in clear resolution. The world of the redeemed, and the world of the lost and doomed.

Behold,

What a great word of celebration! This word is an attention getter! An announcer that draws ones attention to the coming event. This word should demand our utmost inquiry.

My servants

To be a servant of the Living God is not a grievous thing! It is not a hard task to be endured or suffered through. A quick study of how the Heavenly Master treats his servants, makes me want to sign up for this kind of duty. The treatment, and rewards are out of this world! What a blessing it is to be His servant!

Shall sing for joy of heart,

What is in the heart is going to come out of the mouth! When I have a bad day, bad things spew out of the pie hole! When I have a great day, great words are issued out of the same.

God pours his love into our heart to the point it overflows in songs! His servants have so much to be grateful for that our singing mechanism should kick in and push out gleeful strains of the salvation choruses.

BUT! Look at the picture of the lost soul.

Ye shall cry for sorrow of heart,

The lost man has no joy. He has a life full of sorrow, and has no hope for any joy in eternity without the full and free salvation offered by the Lord Jesus Christ.

The word Cry is a painful word, crying drains all joy out of our system. Crying has the salts of bitterness and brokenness in its makeup. Crying sap your strength, and leads to deep dark depression if not put in check.

A sorrowful heart is on the verge of death. A sorrowful heart is never consoled. Nothing can make it better, and skews the way life is seen. "Woe is me" is hard to get through.

And shall howl for vexation of spirit.

Because of continuous sorrow, the natural progression is to slid into a vexation of spirit. The soul of man slumps to the lowest lows. and the inner spirit is vexed.

It is better to be a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ, than to be a servant of self and destruction.

Do you sing for Joy or cry for sorrow?
