I Am A Blessed Man, Are You?

Psalms 32:2
Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

When you spend time in the Word of God, in short order you should realize that as a child of God we are blessed. This has been a very stressful week. Monday we received news that one of our soldiers took his own life while on leave at his home. That kind of news will make you question every action and word that you spoke or could have spoken to him, yet there are no good reasons for this selfish action. I do pray for his family as they deal with the aftermath of such heartache.

The Lord has allowed me to see through this situation to the thousands and thousands of soldiers that will pass through Fort Benning and get a chance to hear the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
God has given me a burden and an awesome opportunity and sacred responsibility to proclaim the Salvation message to soldiers that are on the verge of making similar decisions. It is my prayer and hearts desire that every soldier has the testimony of our verse.

Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity,

In order to better understand this verse, we need to define a couple of words.
Imputeth = to lay the responsibility or blame.
Iniquity = Gross injustice; unfairness; wickedness; sin. a crime.

A man that has lived a life that is spotted with incidents of gross injustice, unfairness in his dealings, wickedness towards God and man, a man that is a sinner, or guilty of crimes against God, that has these things forgiven is truly blessed!

We deserve to be destroyed for the acts we commit. Sin is a harsh word, but when paired up with the word iniquity, it changes the impact of the ordinary meaning to a darker, more sinister word. God wants us to see how nasty sin is in his eyes. The forgiven man has seen and now knows he is blessed because God no longer imputes it to our account.

Forgiveness wipes away the messiness that sin leaves in its wake. God takes on the payment for our sin and then never imputes it to our record. The Lord Jesus Christ paid the price for sin and God will not lay the charges on us, he removes all responsibility and takes away the blame.

and in whose spirit there is no guile.

Because we are forgiven, our spirit is clean, God takes away the underlying deceit and shame that lingers in a guilty man. We are clean, clear, and should exhibit this to others.

If you have sin that stands in the way of God blessing you, just fall back on 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Then you can claim the full promise of this mornings verse!

I Am A Blessed Man, Are You?
