I Will Confess My Transgressions!

Psalm 32:5
I acknowledge my sin unto thee and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

Well, at least I am not as bad as my neighbor. I go to Church, so I am O.K.!, I guess I have some minor problems but I am not near as blatant as that guy on T.V.! I am covered, most things are good between me and God! Did you hear that brother so and so fell into deep sin, I am glad I have never fallen that far!

Why do I have such a hard time admitting that I am a sinner? Why do I struggle with the plain truth that I'm an out right dirty dog sinner? It may be true in the earthly scheme of comparison, I may not be as bad as my neighbor but, in God's eye, I am nothing more than a sinful man that needs to be forgiven, and forgiveness need to take place immediately!

I acknowledge my sin unto thee,

The writer used the word acknowledge. This word has a lot of implications: When we acknowledge our sin, we recognize the status of sin in our life. We disclose the facts that we are sinful, agreeing with God's assessment that we are sinners.

When we acknowledge our sin, we express our obligation for the acts of sin we have committed. We make known to God that we take the receipt of our sin (we own up to it).

And my iniquity have I not hid.

I believe this is in reference to making a clean sweep of the recesses of our soul. We hold nothing back from the inspection of God in our life and soul. We expect to be examined in the microscope of God's word. We then get a diagnosis and cure for the sinful state we have within. I have a hard time releasing all my sin to the Lord. I tend to hold on to the sin I enjoy, never allowing for full and complete forgiveness.

I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord;

When we confess to the Lord, we simply align our totality with the revealed truth as found in the Holy Scripture. God tells us what is wrong, we then choose to agree or disagree with His examination of our life. The word transgression has the meaning of: Violating the law, command or our duty of and to God.

As we transgress the law of God, we must realign our life daily to stay tracking with the perfect plan of God for our life.

And thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin.

God! is poised on the brink of Heaven to forgive and cleanse His children in a split second, when His children seek the cleansing power of forgiveness in the blood of Jesus Christ. God forgives every aspect of the violation of His law. He allows us to experience an immediate restoration of our relationship. He draws us closer to Him by the continual process of seeing and seeking forgiveness of our sins.

The best part of this verse, is the positive promise; forgavest! what a blessing to know and realize that my sin is gone! Praise the Lord!

I understand why the Psalmist said; "I Will Confess My Transgressions" What about you? Will "You Confess Your Transgressions?"
