Give Me Your Ear?

Psalm 5:1
Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.

I am sure having fun blogging on verse 1 of each chapter of Psalms! Some are easy, some are not so easy!

As I read this verse the thought occurred to me that to get the impact I must slow down, allowing the Lord to commune with me.

Give ear to my words, O LORD,

I love the word pictures that are painted by the King James Version. The language is packed full of descriptive brush strokes. I see an active conversation going on. The writer is in mid conversation with God. He is thinking about the things he is seeking guidance on. He is rehearsing the conclusion of his thoughts before the Lord. He is asking God to attend a complete dress rehearsal for a final tweaking before he proclaims these thoughts to the whole world.

By asking God to give ear to our words, we invite Holy interaction and correction of our ways. We ask God to be involved at the deepest level, so we can be the best we need to be.

Consider my meditation.

Meditation has a lot of words to help us define it, like:

brain work, cerebration, consideration, contemplation, deliberation, reflection, rumination, speculation, concentration, deep thought, introspection, pondering, quiet time, reflection, rumination, self-examination.

What ever it takes, we must be in constant relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Do you have this kind of relationship with God?
