Who Is Afraid Of Your Face

Jeremiah 1:8
Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord.

You have a face that will stop a train! Your face is one that only a mother could love! He has a face that would launch a thousand ships. You were so ugly that when you were born the doctor slapped your face not your...........! I bet by now you wish I would stop! O.K. I will.

The hardest thing to do is to get up before a crowd and speak. The hardest thing next to that is to speak one on one. I still struggle to get up and preach before a crowd. It not near as bad as it used to be, but sometimes it is hard.

The looks people give you will push you off track. The expressions people get will dictate the delivery and intensity of the words we speak. If the crowd is somewhat against you in the first place the angry looks could kill.

God, touched upon this when He penned these word to Jeremiah.

Be not afraid.

The Word of God is full of reminders that God is in control, He allows us the comfort of knowing that He has already dictated the out come of the situation. He calms our heart, strikes out our fears, and soothes the anxious mind, by stating Be not afraid.

Be not afraid of their faces:

No matter the looks you may get, no matter how ugly or distasteful the faces of the crowd gets, God tells us don't be afraid of their faces. I believe the expressions one may get on their face doesn't necessarily reflect the attitude or the working of the Holy Spirit in their life. We need not to be afraid of their faces!

For I am with thee.

Reason number one not to be afraid, is by far the best reason, God is with me. When God is with me who can be against me? God and me makes a majority, and if I chicken out, then God alone makes up the vast majority. I love this part of the verse. The God of the universe cares so much about me he is with me in front of those ugly faces I may face today.

To deliver thee, saith the Lord.

Reason number two, is the best insurance policy we could ever have. If the ugly, fearful faces turn out to be just downright nasty and that triggers some type of ugly, fearful action from the crowd, then God!, will deliver us.

So with this promise in hand, we need to get busy and take the message of full and free salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ to a lost world, no matter how fearful their faces are.

Who is afraid of Your face?

  1. Thanks for the post, it is a good reminder that God always helps us with this. Even after 22 years of preaching, sometimes there is some intimidation from their faces.
I always try to find a friendly face in the crowd to preach to.
