A Touched Mouth!

Jeremiah 1:9
Then the Lord put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. and the Lord said unto me, behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

There are many things I do not fully understand! How can one have in his mouth a cuss, and the next have a praise? How can I have a cuss in my mouth, then speak the word of God the next?

Christians are one strange bunch of folks. We must operate in two distinct opposing worlds. My goal is to tip the scale from the carnal world to live in the spiritual world in sweet fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Let's look at the parts of this verse that blessed my soul this morning!

Then the Lord put forth his hand.

I have come to realize that I never need to make the first move, when it comes to the blessings He desires to give me. God always initiates the first touch. One of the most interesting aspects of our ministry to the soldiers at Fort Benning is, when we physically touch the individual soldier. These soldiers have a change in their appearance when they are touched.

I love the song, "He touched me"! I praise His Holy Name for the touch He gave me!

And touched my mouth.

I humorously tell the soldiers that I am proficient in profanity, and took English as a second language! Unfortunately there is an element of truth in that statement. I am thankful that God has touched my mouth, I am much happier when I use my mouth for the glory of the Lord.

Christians are indeed blessed, because God saves their souls and wants to save their mouth too! We get the honor of using our mouths to bring the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ to a lost, hell bound world! I am happy for the fact that God touched my mouth. I do pray that I will use it to the best of my abilities to broadcast the good news!

And the Lord said unto me, behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

We have a great promise in these words. Inside our daily relationship with the Lord we receive the lessons that shape our actions. When we allow the Lord the opportunity to use us, He will give us the words to speak. In fact He promises to put His words in our mouth.

How blessed we are to have the Lord do what only He can do. My unclean mouth is a touched mouth, carrying the precious Word of the Lord!

Has The Lord Touched Your Mouth?
