Hear The Right!

Psalm 17:1
Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips.

I just love this very bold opening to a very strong prayer.

Hear the right.

what an obvious statement. A child of God has the responsibility to be right. I remember on a number of occasions each of my children would bring me a request that seemed fishy, after a little investigation I discovered my child was using me to gain some favor for an act of disobedience they had planned or had committed. They were not right, they were wrong. (sinful)

When a child of God is right, he can be assured that his pettition will be heard and an answer is on the way.

Attend unto my cry.

Again for the child of God who is in a right relationship with Him, can seek the desires of his heart and probe the deepest set of emotional attachments to his request and God will hear and attend to the cry.

Give ear unto my prayer.

The assurance is ours when we seek the open ear of God in prayer. When we maintain a relationship that is Biblical and right in the eyes of God we can expect Him to give ear, (I imagine Him turning toward our voice, showing His interest and concern for our prayer.)

That goeth not out of feigned lips.

We come full circle, a man that has a right heart, will only speak what is in that heart. A clean heart will produce words that are right and not feigned or outright lies.

My desire is to work at keeping my heart right and clean, so my prayer will be right and heard and answered.

May God grant me this prayer.
