Lord, Who?

Psalm 15:1
Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill?

Two great questions appear to us in this passage. In light of the fact that I am a complete filthy sinner when compared to the Holiness of the Lord Jesus Christ, I also ask; "Lord, Who"?

In order to get the impact of this verse we must define a couple of words in each of these two questions.

Question #1 Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle?

Tabernacle = A home, or The Home of God!

If you were to stop to ponder the magnificent thought of "What will the home of God be like." it would blow your mind. I remember a time when I was leading the Senior Adults at a Church I was working at. I scheduled a dinner cruise. We were late in arriving to the dock and watched the boat float away, without us on it. As luck would have it I had a couple of widows that needed to be entertained for a couple of hours, before we could join our party. I decided to drive them to one of the wealthiest places in Sarasota Florida to look at a couple of Gulf front Mansions that were under construction.

One of the widows was awestruck by the size of the mansions. She had lived her whole life in Government subsidized apartments. She commented in her naivety... "How many apartment in that place!" She was stunned to learn only one family would reside there. If a wealthy American can afford such a luxurious home, I would be hard pressed to guess what might the Creator of the universe could do for His Tabernacle.

Abide = One of the definitions reads like this; To remain stable or fixed in a state. To continue in a place.

The thought to abide in the tabernacle of God is too much to get my simple mind around. I get to be fixed forever in such grand accommodations. I will be able to remain stable for eternity. I get to continue for all eternity in the home of God.

The question asked is; "Who" the Bible is clear, Only sinners that trust the saving grace of Jesus Christ can qualify to live in God's Tabernacle with Him. (You can right now trust Christ to save your soul. Why not ask Him to forgive your sins, come into your heart and save your soul!)

Question #2
Who shall dwell in thy holy hill?

I found this in the "Believer's Bible Commentary" by William MacDonald. "The individual God chooses as His companion is the subject of Psalm 15. Although it does not say so in this Psalm, the basic qualification for entrance into God's kingdom is to be born again. Apart from the new birth, no one can see or enter the kingdom.

This birth is from above is experienced by grace, through faith, and takes place completely apart from any meritorious works on man's part.

Bottom line: Get save today so you can dream about the eternal life in the Tabernacle of God!
