Psalm 21:1
The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice.
I find myself complaining about how tired I am. I do get tired, but most of the time it is sheer laziness on my part. As I age I realize that I am loosing a bit of strength, I also find that my schedule has increased.
I get excited when I stop to see how the Lord is using me and my wife to make a difference in the lives of thousands of soldiers throughout each year. We have been asked to do more and the level of involvement is great. I realize I can not do this without the strength that is only from the Lord. The psalmist is rejoicing, because of what he observed in the kings life.
The king shall joy in thy strength, O Lord.
I can not imagine the pressure to be a king, I watch the television as countless political officials parade across the screen, I realize that these servants if they are honestly working for the good interest of us, must put a huge investment of time and strength. We all have seen a rather young looking president take office and within a couple of years the tell, tell signs of stress and pressure show in the grey hair and wrinkles on their faces can not be hid.
For the christian, we too will age, but we can at least seek the strength of the Lord, so in ageing we will have joy.
And in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice.
Sometime in out existence we do not find much to rejoice in. With all the stress, pressure, work, hurt, pains, financial worries, and such, it gets pretty dark. The Psalmist, give us the one reason that we all can agree on! We all (Christians) can always rejoice in the solid fact of Salvation in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Our joy is full and our rejoicing is to be great, in the salvation of our souls in Christ.
