Psalm 45:1
1My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
I have heard a lot of criticism about the King James Version, but I love the challenge of reading the blessed text. I will admit the words are arranged in a way that sometimes will cause you to think! (what is wrong about using the old grey matter?) I get excited when the Lord gives a certain passage for me to tackle. I set out awhile ago to blog the first verse of each Psalm. I read the verse praying that God would show me something each day, He has!, today is no exception.
My heart is inditing a good matter:
The first word that jumped off the page at me this morning was "inditing". Because the Lord wrote this he again uses a word that is rich in meaning. The Psalmist paints a great picture in this word. he expresses his deep feeling in this particular word.
The Psalmist sat down with a heart full of praise for the Lord, He wanted to "compose or write as a poem or in a literary manner" about the blessings of God in his life. I would challenge you to take out a piece of paper and a pen with purpose to write a poem about the goodness of the Lord. One of the resources I use in my study is an old song book, one rich in poems of love and praise to the Lord.
The Psalmist used the word inditing so we would receive a wealth of options in the actions he desired to pass along to the readers, like; "to dictate and prescribe" the glory and praise that God deserves and is worthy to receive.
I speak of the things which I have made touching the king:
The Psalmist must have made this a regular matter to write (blog??) about the greatness of the Heavenly Father. He was reviewing the words he had penned and was pulling out the best praise for his God. He was concentrating on aspects of the Glory of the King of Kings! He had close personal experience with King Jesus and now wanted us to know about it!
my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
Can we echo this part of the verse? is our tongue used to be the pen of a ready writer?
What is your heart inditing?
