History: Yea or Yuk???

Psalm 44:1
1We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

I admit it, I failed History in High School! I hated it, I saw no reason why we needed to learn about a bunch of dead men, and the odd stuff they did. I could not make any connection to the hear and now! I wish I could go back and see what I missed, by not putting my effort into learning. Everything we know and any accomplishment we enjoy has emanated from history.

God puts a lot of emphasis on us seeing history as a means of learning valuable lessons so we can move forward, or avoid trouble, based upon history. The Psalmist knew his history and wants us to learn it too!

We have heard with our ears,

History begins with words! God spoke, man heard! Our ears are key to understanding every precept of the Lord. He allows His words to enter our heart by those two flaps along side our heads. History is communicated in word. I believe that most Christians never develop their hearing abilities. I ask you a pointed question, "Have you heard?"

O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

We sing the song; "Tell me the old, old story of unseen things above, of Jesus and His glory!" For me this is one of my favorite songs! I can usually tell a little about my daily walk with God, if the preaching of God's word thrills my soul or if I get bored with it!

I love to hear testimonies of what God is doing in the lives of His children, I get excited as I know that God desires to do the same thing for me. I look at the history of God's work and expect Him to deliver to me similar things.

History has become one of my best friends! It tells me of the great love that God has for me, History informs me of the scope of what God wants to do for me! History is my keyhole to the future, and the future looks good to me!

I pray that my ears will hear! and my heart will see a great history as it is being written!

Thank you God!, for your eternal history!
