Judge Me, O God!

Psalm 43:1
1Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

I imagine that about everyone has daydreamed a bit about being charged with a crime they did not commit, then going through the process of hiring a lawyer. We bring to the table a box load of evidence to prove our innocence. The lawyer listens and injects some very incriminating questions, we wonder if this lawyer is on our side or will he help the accusers. As we finish making our case we leave one final comment to him... "Judge for yourself", you will find my case merited!

I believe the Psalmist was in such a situation, lets dig in and see it up close

Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation:

When we go to God with all of our problems, we make the best choice in an advocate! The writer asked God to judge not only his cause but to examine the most private of all matters, he asked to be individually judged. The writer said "Judge me!"

If you were to define the word "Judge" , you would include the following;
1.to pass legal judgment on; pass sentence on (a person):
2.to hear evidence or legal arguments in (a case) in order to pass judgment; adjudicate; try:
3.to form a judgment or opinion of; decide upon critically:
4.to decide or settle authoritatively; adjudge:

One of the more interesting definition is; (of the ancient Hebrew judges) to govern. In light of the current political, financial, and spiritual climate our nations is in I think this may be the best rendering of thought: O God, govern me, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation? (wow, what a thought!)

O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

Again, this world is full of men that set out to deceive. All you need to do is to tune into a news channel on T.V. and in short order you will see two people debating the same issue, they both will throw much confusion and purposely muddy the issue to the point we no longer care about it merits.

Not only are men set on being deceitful, we can see that men around us are unjust! A passing feeling is that a Christian can not get a break from the evil that surrounds us! We must seek the Lord our God! He will judge, He will deliver! A-Men!

Have you ever uttered the words "Judge me, O God."
