And Now (2)!

2 Samuel 7: 28
And now, O Lord God, thou art that God, and thy words be true, and thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:

David is still praising God for the revelation God has blessed him with about his life and the lives of his offspring's. All a man could ever want on earth is to serve God and know that his children will follow in the same.

The reality of the pronouncement that God has given David is almost too good to be true, yet David displays for us complete trust in God's word.

We are living in a time where a lot of situations are rapidly changing. Last night we checked into the motel in Mansfield, Ohio! Our car was on fumes, we decided to just wait to fill up this morning. I turned on the television to hear a news report that stated that fuel jumped up twenty cents overnight. I can not believe that in the 6 or 7 hours it took me to sleep the world and our country changed so much to justify this huge change. Thank God, we found gas was the same price as when we arrived!

David was living in a time where the world was rapidly changing to, especially his personal world. He was trusting God to do big things for him and now, God has poured out a tidal wave of blessings. David is astonished and is filled with amazement for God. In our verse today I am encouraged by the following three facts.

1. And now, O Lord God, thou art that God,
We hear a lot of people shouting to each other "Hey!, you the man!" We do this when a certain act of another person is recognized as being helpful, encouraging, or as a blessing to us.

David is in the middle of experiencing perhaps one of the greatest blessings of his personal life. God has promised a lot to him. David knows that God will follow through in every detail of every word spoken.

I wonder if we have had such a time in our daily walk with God, that would cause us to shout out to God. "O Lord God, Thou art THAT God?"

2. Thy words be true.
Many of us count it to be so, that when a word is spoken to us it is truth. We enter a lot of contracts with details spelled out to the letter, agreeing to stipulations and clauses that will benefit us if we hold up our end of the contract. Lately we have seen our own government bail out large business and the individual contract we had with them are now turned upside down. It seems like what was the truth is now a lie!

David was confident that God's words "Be true" We need to have the confidence in God's word. This morning I opened the precious word of God, finding that there was truth in every book, every chapter, every sentence, every word, and even the punctuation was "TRUE".

Have you spent time this morning with the "True Word of God?"

3. Thou hast promised this goodness unto thy servant:
David stands amazed the the God of the universe would consider him worthy to make such promises to him.

One of the blessings we receive daily in our relationship with the Lord, is we are promised goodness. To have such a loving Master that cares for us enough to bestow His goodness on can be overwhelming. The writer of hymns was taken aback by the blessing showered on us at the cross of Christ he referred to himself "for such a worm as I"

Three questions this morning:
Have we told God that he is "That God"!
Have we agreed that His words "Be true"!
Have we experienced His "Goodness"!
