For he did eat continually, lame on his feet

2 Samuel 9:13
So Mephibosheth dwelt in Jerusalem: for he did eat continually at the King's table; and was lame on his feet.

As I read this last verse, it dawned on me that this is a picture of real life. The King of King's saves a lame man from certain destruction. The man was at the lowest place in life, living in the worst place without any hope. No provisions, no companionship, no future.

This man is invited to the courts of the palace! he has been summoned to see the King! He arrives expecting to be dealt with by some subordinate but is ushered into the throne room! The king arrives, and the man realizes this is no ordinary meeting! He realizes that his total fate rest in the words that will proceed out of this monarchs lips.

The questions are asked! The answers are given in return. Now the time comes for the verdict! The man deserves death! He get life, life abundant. The royal invitation to eat at the King's table.

A real rags to riches story! one we can experience everyday when we live for the Lord Jesus Christ. Mephibosheth's life is changed, he is forever taken care of. Now in the last verse we are reminded that sin scar's are visible, but the Grace of God feeds us forever!

Mephibosheth did in fact eat at the king's table forever, and lived daily with the reminder of his frailty.

God provides daily rations for us! He allows us to deal with the things that cause us to be lame on our feet by his wonderful grace.

To think that God loves me enough to work in and around the lame things I do. Thank you Lord, I love you!
