Colossians 4:3
Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds.
In the previous verse we were told to continue in prayer! Now the Apostle ties verse 2 and 3 together with the word "withal", which means "together with"
As a missionary, I often ask people to pray for us. I believe that any work God chooses to do with and through me is directly related to the prayers of His saints for me. It is scriptural to ask for prayer and it is scriptural to pray for others. In this verse we see some very specific request for prayer.
Praying also for us,
Those who would read this epistle would be very familiar with the work and trials, tribulations and the imprisonment of the Apostle. I am thankful that those who read this blog prays for us daily.
The sweetest gift we can offer someone is to earnestly pray for them. We all need to take this aspect of our Christian life seriously, it is a matter of eternal life or eternal damnation. Who have you prayed for today?
That God would open unto us a door of utterance.
A Christian is in the business of communication. We have the Words of Life. We know faith comes by hearing, so we must tell. I love my cell phone and use it daily it is an easy way to stay in constant communication with others. The easiest way to communicate is by speaking to the one whom God directs us to. He is the best operator making devine connections for us to speak an "Utterance".
(Utterance= an oral or written statement, vocal expression, power, style, or manner of speaking.) We should seek to sharpen this tool called utterance to the point of effectiveness!
What have you uttered today, and to whom?
To speak the mystery of Christ!
To the redeemed the Gospel is not a mystery, to the lost it is a hard thing to understand. The simplicity of salvation by faith in Jesus Christ is not easily understood by a unrepentant man. We need to be in tune with the Holy Spirit so God can reveal to the lost His plan for them to be saved.
I need to be a conduit that allows the flow of communication to flow through me unobstructed. I need the power of God to allow me to speak (communicate) the mystery of Christ.
May God help us to be able to pray for and speak to others the Gospel.
