Colossians 1:12
Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light
This morning as I read this verse one word jumped out at me! The word "meet"!
Last night I posted pictures of the soldiers that attended Bible Study, I commented that I was one lucky man. I stand by that comment, I do get the privilege of watching the Lord Jesus Christ save souls almost everyday. I pray, that I never get over the amazement of this single act of mercy. I am so blessed to be used of God, I do not deserve any consideration, I am a sinner saved by grace, called to take the gospel of redemption to the finest men on the face of the earth, the American Soldier. I guess you could say God has made me "meet" for this ministry.
The Apostle said a lot when he said; "the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers..."
Let's look at the word meet:
To come into the presence of:
To think that God made me fit to be in His presence is a mystery I may never understand, Every Christian is given the opportunity to be in the presence of God at any time they desire, God desires that we spend constant time living in His presence .
To come together with especially at a particular time or place:
What a word meet! The Savior wants us to schedule a time and place to meet him! A standing appointment is a status symbol. We can rightly brag that the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, has scheduled me in His presence at a particular time and place...
To come into contact or conjunction with:
We have learned that when we have physical contact, like shaking hands or wrapping our arms around soldiers to pray with them, a noticeable change takes place in their being. The same is true of coming into contact or being in conjunction with God, we can't help but be changed!
To enter into conference, argument, or personal dealings with:
People pay thousands of dollars to have a few moments with some guru of business, real estate, or financial endeavors. God allows his children to enter into a deep conference at any time, without charge. We can bring our arguments before him to have them dispelled. We can have the Lord Jesus Christ take charge of all our personal dealings. (Man!, what a deal it is to be a child of God!)
To conform to especially with exactitude and precision:
The Christian that wants a complete makeover, only need to come to the Lord for assistance. We submit to the authority of God's Word. God will is by far the most skilled surgical instrument. The Word of God will help us to conform to the best plan, it will get to the precise area of need with "exactitude and precision."
To provide for:
Not only do God's children never need to pay for His help, the opposite is true! God will provide everything we will ever need to get the job done.
I ask this question: Are you meet?
