Cast Off, Scattered, Displeased!

Psalm 60:1
O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased; O turn thyself to us again.

I have heard some preacher's say that you should never question God! I, disagree with this statement. Since I am an adopted heir of God through Jesus Christ, I have rights and privileges that allows me to ask questions, expecting answers. I can state to God, my honest feelings about what is happening in my life. If I understand what a relationship is about, God is willing to give us an opportunity to share our thoughts, it is like a two way street of interaction. I am thankful for this!

God created us with deep seated feelings, He has given us a mind to think, lips to speak, and ears to hear. The Psalmist pours out for all to see, the most intimate details of his inner life of struggles. The emotions that are expressed are very similar to those we all have had at one point or another, lets look at them;

O, God thou hast cast us off,
As you read these words, the first thought is, "No Way!, The Bible promises that God will never leave us nor forsake us! You would be correct, yet I know, I have had these thoughts when things fall apart in my own life. The feelings we all experience are real, we may not reveal them in public, but in the private closet of prayer we can express these thoughts to God our creator. He understands and will guide us as we seek Him.

When we have these feelings, and thoughts, it would do us well to examine our life, making sure we have sought forgiveness for all known sin in our life. Making sure we have a clear and clean path in our relationship with God. When we have received the cleansing forgiveness of all sin, then we can push ahead with our honest questioning, along with sharing our feelings with God, having confidence He will make a way!

Thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased;
The psalmist continues to share his feelings. The feeling of being scattered has the thought of being distributed at irregular intervals, dispersed. disorganized, or distracted. When the even flow of our day to day relationship with God is disrupted, the overwhelming fear sweeps in making us feel scattered. Honest feelings should be discussed with our Lord!

The feeling that God is displeased is common. We are sinners! We are redeemed sinners. Christians are sinners save by grace. It should not surprise us that our corrupt human feelings constantly throws us old sins to entertain these thoughts.

If we hang on to our sinful ways, these thoughts are God's way of helping us get right with Him. We should confess our sins to Him. We need to keep our life so close to God, that when sin creeps in, we rapidly turn (repent) to Him for forgiveness.

O, turn thyself to us again.
What a confession! When we get right with God, we can the expect a restoration of a smooth walk with God. I am thankful that God is willing to "Turn to us again" , and again, and again!

We need to develop our relationship with God, so we can be honest in every part! There is no need for to feel "Cast off, Scattered, and Displeased!"
