Do Ye Speak Righteousness?

Psalm 58:1
Do ye speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?

One valid criticism about Christians is that we are hypocrites! Sometimes this is right on the spot correct and a lot of the time it is not. I do see a lot of "Sunday" Christians, that dress up, and clean up, and sit up for about an hour or two Sunday morning. There have been times I must admit, I too have played this role in my personal life.

The Psalmist asks if the Congregation speaks about righteousness?

If you listen to ungodly people talk about the things of the Lord, it will not be long before you hear some strange ideas. we have heard things like; "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" this may sound good, but is not in the Word of God, Every one of us must weigh our words in this vital area. When we speak of righteousness, we should have enough experience with God and His Word, to speak it correctly.

The Psalmist catches us in mid thought, Before we Judge others we must check ourselves in light of the Word of God. When we must be a judge, we need to be as close to the Lord Jesus Christ as we can get. It is fruitless for us to judge without the knowledge of what God expects.

This psalm is a harsh indictment of anyone who make judgments, As a Christian I am reminded that once again, without the Lord's help I will fail.
